The Welsh Assembly Government’s Strategy for Older People requires each local authority to nominate an Older Person’s Champion from the elected Councillors to specifically cover older people issues. Caerphilly County Borough Council has demonstrated its commitment to the Strategy for Older People by nominating two Champions. One from the elected Councillors and also a senior manager in the authority.
As of May 2008 new champions have been elected. The forum would like to thank the outgoing Champions, Gerald Jones and Joe Howsam, for their support.
