Getting your voice heard

Caerphilly 50+ Forum is an independent platform for people aged 50+ in Caerphilly County Borough to “get their voices heard” on issues that are important to them. The following links will prove useful to people looking to lobby and campaign on various issues.

BBC Action Network

Action Network can help you change something in your area. Get in touch with people who feel the same way and get advice on taking action. The 2nd link is a guide on how to lobby political representatives.

Breaking Barriers
Everybody has a voice, but not everyone is heard.
Breaking Barriers Digital Storytelling offers the opportunity for people from all over Caerphilly to use their voices to share their stories with us. Form one to one, to full-blown production workshops and working in community halls, drop-in centres, peoples own homes and once even in a forest, local people from eight to eighty are making short films about things that are important to them.

Caerphilly Local Health Board

This web site provides information to the general public on a range of topics, central to the work of the Local Health Board. This ranges from on line of copies of key publications to information relating to opening hours of local surgeries and other primary care organisations.

CCBC Viewpoint Panel
One of the ways in which the Council find out what the residents think about their policies and services and how they can improve them is through their Viewpoint Panel.
The Panel is made up of 1,300 local people who are selected to be representative of the community on a broad range of characteristics such as gender, age and location. Panel members are asked to complete 3 or 4 postal questionnaires a year and are invited to attend meetings on particular services/areas and on more general issues like the Community Strategy, customer services and the council decision making process. Sometimes, the Police and Local Health Board have also used the Panel.
