On this web page you can find out where you can get help and advice on a wide range of services related to your house and home.
This includes information on refuse collection and recycling, social services, meals on wheels and adaptations to your home. You can also apply online via the council website for several of the services.
This information has been produced by the 50+ Positive Action Partnership working with the Caerphilly 50+ Forum. This is a new section on the site and so if there is a service or facility that is not listed here you would like to know about or you want others to know about please email us or post a message on the forum message board.
Assisted Refuse Collection
The council operates an assisted collection service for residents who are not able to put their bin at the kerbside themselves due to disability, infirmity etc. and there is no other person living at your property who is able to assist. To be considered for this service, we will need to arrange a visit to your home to see if you qualify.
To request a visit please complete and submit the online form below. We will then contact you to arrange a convenient appointment.

Bulky Household Items Collection
This service is free of charge for a maximum of 12 items per annum. Items may include furniture, cookers, carpets, kitchen units and fridge freezers.
CHAD (Centre for Help and Advice for the Disabled)
CHAD offers help & advice to anyone experiencing difficulties with everyday life. We demonstrate and offer aids, which should improve the quality of life both for the user and the carer.

Community Alarm
The Community Alarm Service is available to elderly or disabled people living in either Council accommodation or private accommodation in the County Borough.
The control centre is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by a team of fully trained staff.

Energywatch
FREE services from gas and electricity suppliers. This is a free service for people
of pension age who have a disability, who have long term ill health, are blind or visually impaired
The free service includes an annual safety check for all gas appliances.

Home Energy Efficiency Scheme (HEES)
The Welsh Assembly Government funds the HEES scheme. It provides grants of up to £3,600 for eligible householders in Wales. The scheme offers improvements designed to make homes in Wales warmer and more energy efficient.

Housing Advice Centre
Caerphilly county borough council’s Housing Advice Team delivers the council’s homelessness assessment service, undertaking homeless investigations, & referring to the Emergency Accommodation Team, those that the council has a legal duty to provide temporary accommodation whilst their application is investigated.
The HAC also offers advice and assistance with all aspects of housing including:
social housing
the private rented sector
owner-occupiers
liaison with the Emergency Accommodation Team
The service is available to all people including those who are homeless or potentially homeless. Where it is felt that homelessness can be prevented, applicants will be advised of housing options available to them.

Housing and Council Tax Benefit
The Council can provide help and advice on claiming Housing and/or Council Tax Benefit. Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit are State benefits to help you pay your rent and council tax if you are on a low income. They are assessed and paid by local councils.

Noisy Neighbours
This includes noisy neighbours, dogs barking, factory and industrial related noise pollution. The Council are also responsible for investigating complaints about noisy clubs, construction sites, pubs, shops and takeaways.

Rubbish and Recycling
Caerphilly County Borough Council is responsible for the collection and disposal of household waste. Domestic refuse is collected weekly from the kerbside of the majority of households. The council also operates a service for the collection of large bulky items, recycling and green garden waste.
